Questions, answered properly
Everything you might reasonably want to know
No vague marketing answers. If something here is still unclear, the Questions button in the corner reaches a human.
The basics
- What is GuestMade, in one sentence?
- One QR code that turns every phone at your event into a camera, guest book and game controller — guests scan it, share what they capture, and everything lands in one private gallery you own.
- Do guests need to download an app?
- No. The QR opens a web page in their phone’s browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create and no password. They type a first name so you know who shared what, and that is the whole sign-up.
- What do guests actually do?
- Point the camera at the QR, tap the banner that appears, type a name, then take or choose photos. They can also record a voice message or a short video for you, and join photo challenges and live games if you have set them up.
- What if someone has no phone signal at the venue?
- Uploads queue in the browser and keep retrying, so a guest can share on venue wi-fi or when signal returns. They do not have to sit and watch a progress bar.
- Does the QR code ever expire?
- No. The same code works before, during and after the event. You control when uploads open and close from your dashboard, so a code printed weeks early is still the right one on the day.
- Can I try it before the event?
- Yes, and you should. “Try your event” in your dashboard walks you through exactly what a guest sees, on your own phone, with your real event and theme. Delete your test photos afterwards and nobody is any the wiser.
Your photos, videos and voice messages
- Can I download everything after the event?
- Yes. Every photo, video message and voice message a guest shares stays in your host gallery and can be downloaded from your dashboard — the original files, not copies squeezed down for the web.
- How long do I have to download it all?
- Your gallery stays up for one year after the event, so there is no rush on the night or the morning after. We still suggest saving everything to your own computer or cloud drive in the first few weeks, the same as you would with any photographer’s gallery — a year goes quickly.
- Are the photos compressed?
- No. Every photo is stored exactly as it left the guest’s phone — full resolution, no compression, no re-encoding. What you download is the original file, big enough to print and frame.
- Is there a limit on how many photos guests can share?
- No limit on guests or photos. If you want to make it a game you can switch on disposable-camera mode, which gives each guest a fixed number of shots — a deliberate constraint, not a cap we impose.
- What about videos and voice messages?
- Guests can record a short video message or a voice note — the modern version of a written guest book line. Both sit in your gallery beside the photos and download the same way, for the same year.
- Can I delete a photo?
- Yes. As the host you can remove anything from the gallery, which is handy for test shots, accidental pocket photos and the blurry one of the floor.
Privacy
- Who can see the photos?
- You do. Guests only ever see their own uploads — never anyone else’s. Nothing is public, there is no feed, and nothing is indexed by search engines.
- Do guests have to hand over personal details?
- No. A first name is all we ask for, so you can tell whose photos are whose. No email, no phone number, no account.
- Could a stranger who finds the QR code get in?
- They would need the code itself, which lives on your tables, and you can close uploads at any moment from your dashboard. For most private events that is the right balance — a wedding guest should not have to be invited twice.
- Is anything shared with advertisers or used to train anything?
- No. Your photos are yours. We store them so you can download them, and that is the extent of it.
On the day
- What can I put on the big screen?
- One display link shows whichever of four things you choose: a welcome screen with the join QR, a live photo slideshow as pictures arrive, a wall of entries from one photo challenge, or a live game. You switch between them from your phone in the command centre — no need to touch the venue laptop.
- What are the live games?
- Quizzes, crowd polls, this-or-that rounds, most-likely-to votes and two truths and a lie, plus rounds where the room makes something: a drawing round, a caption wall and a live word cloud. Guests play on their phones while the results land on the screen.
- What are photo challenges?
- Little missions you write — “the worst dance move”, “someone you have not seen in ten years”. Guests shoot against them, entries collect together, and you can crown a winner and put the wall on the venue screen.
- Who runs all this on the night?
- Whoever is holding a phone. The command centre is deliberately plain: what is on screen now, four things you can switch to, and the controls for whatever is running. Hand it to a bridesmaid or the best man and they will cope.
Setup and pricing
- What does it cost?
- One payment per event. No subscription, no per-guest charge, no upsell on the day — unlimited guests and photos, live games, the venue screen, voice guest book and photo challenges are all included.
- When do I pay?
- Whenever you like before guests arrive. You can build the whole event, pick a theme, write your games and rehearse it first; activation is what makes it live for guests.
- Can I run more than one event?
- Yes. Each event is its own code, gallery and payment, all under the one login — useful if you are running the hen party, the wedding and the day-after barbecue.
- How far in advance should I set it up?
- A week is plenty, a day is fine. The only genuinely slow part is printing your table signs, and the QR & signs section gives you a print-ready PDF in whatever size you need.
